Uncommon Goods Christmas Gift Ideas + Holiday Shopping List Printable

I know it’s a little crazy to be thinking about Christmas when we haven’t even had Halloween yet, but my husband and I have been talking about what we’re going to get everybody for Christmas. I’m pretty sure my mother in law does her Christmas shopping as soon as school starts, something that I wish I could be better about! We’ve been busy working on our budget for Christmas this year and have been putting money aside at the end of the summer so that we aren’t left stranded this holiday!

Taking my 1 year old into the store has been challenging lately so I’ve resorted to shopping online as much as possible. While trying to figure out what we want to get everybody for Christmas, I came across a site called Uncommon Goods. They have Christmas gifts for everybody and all of their products are cruelty free. None of their products contain leather, feathers or fur and have also featured products that contain recycled components. Another great thing about Uncommon Goods is they have a passion for giving back and created the Better Give Back Program. When you make a purchase through their website, Uncommon Goods donates $1 to a non-profit organization that you choose at checkout.

I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time finding gifts for my family, especially the men. My kids are generally pretty easy, and are helpful in letting us know what they want for Christmas. Night Before Christmas Gift Tags

I’m know we’re not the only ones, but it has always been a tradition in my home for each kid to open up one gift on Christmas Eve, our choice. It was so fun, and made it that much more exciting to see what was left under our tree the next morning. My husband’s family also got to open one gift before Christmas, but they were always pajamas. When I joined their family, I loved the idea that you would be getting a new set of pajamas each year (or every other year – that’s how we’ve worked out Thanksgiving and Christmas with our families).

While still carrying on my families tradition of opening one gift on Christmas Eve, I’ve converted to my husbands family tradition with making it a new set of pajamas each year for my kids. In order to figure out which gift our kids get to open the night before Christmas, I’ve made these gift tags to make it easier to find. You will no longer need to make extra notes on your gift tags reminding you to “OPEN ME ON CHRISTMAS EVE,” buy an extra roll of wrapping paper to determine which ones are the “night before Christmas” gifts (unless you enjoy doing that which isn’t a bad idea) or set them aside in another room until it’s time open.

Christmas Card Tags

Let’s be honest, Christmas Cards can get pretty pricey and sometimes it cuts into our Christmas shopping budget. It definitely cuts into ours. Our middle child’s birthday is 3 days after Christmas, mine is 2 weeks after Christmas, and the oldest is at the end of January… see what I mean? I can’t afford to spend too much money on Christmas cards, but I don’t want to sacrifice the look of my cards either. Luckily, this little project will turn your favorite family photo into a cute and festive Christmas card, and it’ll save you some money. Intrigued? I’ll tell you how.

String/bakers twine

Scallop cutter or scissors and hole punch

We all know 4×6 prints are the least expensive, and if you’re new to Shutterfly, they offer 50 free prints – score! Cut out your printables and punch out a hole at the top. Wrap some string around your print and tie your printables to it and you’re all done. Stick them in an envelope and send them off to family and friends. I guarantee they will love them!

12 Days Christmas Card

I know Christmas was 2 weeks ago, but with all the hustle and bustle during last month I haven’t had a chance to share a project I worked on for my cousin. FREE Printable Christmas Gift Card Holders

Last week was a crazy one for me. I was busy working on a couple of Christmas cards for my husband’s family (which I enjoyed making!), and to top it all off my entire family got sick, so that was fun… This week, I’m trying to catch up and I’m excited to share these cute Printable Christmas Gift Card Holders. You no longer have to worry about getting a card to go along with your gift card, and there’s room at the top for a small note. These are super easy to put together and your friends & family will love it!

Follow the tutorial below to put your gift card holder together:

gift-card-brown-tutorial-1Make sure you fold the card in thirds along the lines. This step makes it easier when you have to glue the tabs down.

Fold the tabs and apply glue (or a thin piece of double sided tape) on the tabs.

Once you’ve applied glue to the tabs, fold over the bottom portion of the holder as pictured above where the tabs are attached and wait until the glue is dry.

Once the glue is dry, insert your gift card, then fold the top over and you’re all done! Easy, right?

I wanted to create something my 3 year old could cross off and see how many days are left instead of writing a “random” number down. When I showed this countdown to him, he got so excited and kept asking if it was Christmas yet. I can’t wait to finally start counting down ’til Christmas!
